I am speechless

This spectacular moment took my breath away. I felt like I could only speak through my camera, that would be the only way I could express myself.

Being at the right place at the right time

It was just a total coincidence for me to be at the opening of the West Wing the Old Court House Museum in historic New Castle on September 25, 2010. I happened to be at the right place at the right time that day. I casually went to the museum to take photos and there I learned that they were about to have an opening of the West Wing that will host Preservation of Delaware and the governor and other State officials were expected. I was even invited to stay and continue to take photos as a back up to the event photographer. I got a bit nervous since I do not do much event photography plus I did not have my external flash with me. I decided to focus on the positive. This was a happy event so there was going to be happy people with happy faces. I figured if I can capture the real, sincere smiles, look for the humor and unique expressions I would be fine. So, what do you think?

As I gesture, I gave permission to the Preservation of Delaware to use any of my photos of the historic locations on their website. I am hoping to see few of mine there. I will keep you posted.

The Old Court House

The New Castle Court House was built in 1732 and served as Delaware's first court and state capitol. The building is one of the oldest surviving court houses in the United States and it is a registered National Historic Landmark. The declaration of independence was read to the people of Delaware for the very first time on the balcony right off of the assembly room on the second floor. It was amazing to stand on the original flooring in the assembly room and listen the curator telling me about all the history of this building. If you have not already done so, I encourage you all to visit the museum for a touch of history.

Gliding through the rocks

I do not know why I am drawn to the moving water. Is it the sound of the falling water or its free flow gliding through the rocks with such relaxed yet determined attitude to find its path. I would not dare to freeze that moment so when I capture it, I always slow it down as much as I can to allow it carry forward smoothly, effortlessly. When you look at it, I would want you to be caressed by the sense of serenity.

Window with a view

Once a window with a view is now a window to a ruin. It makes you sad to see once a charm old structure laying there broken waiting for its destiny. And what would that be? Restored and come alive or rebuilt and reborn? I do not know what is going to happen to Gibraltar Estate. I know that the gardens will be protected and preserved and the house will turn into an office space but how, how are they going to that. Let's just hope they will preserve the old character and make it shine again instead of composing a final chapter for its existence.
